A French Country Getaway…with a touch of Aussie!

“au pont”, with its original exterior is a pre-Nepoleonic building, which for many years operated as a Café/Bar. Situated on the riverbank of the Thouet River, with a Medieval Water Mill and Weir on one side, and an 11th Century Romanesque Bridge on the other. It offers one acre of beautiful gardens, medium size above ground swimming pool, children’s pool, boules, basketball, table tennis, fishing, boating and private river frontage to enjoy.

The scenic walk into the village of Gourgé takes 10mins, and there you will find the bakery, local store, restaurant and one of the oldest Churches in France, Saint Hilaire. Les Sentiers de Gourgé (the 5 mapped walking/cycling trails), are a well known activity in the region, due to the scenic and historic paths they follow.

Peter and Donna, the Australian owners, reside in Gourgé for the majority of the year, so they will ensure that your stay with them will be one to remember. In their absence, an English/French speaking neighbour will assist you. There are also brochures on places of interest, activities and theme parks in the house for you to peruse, along with a Guest Book highlighting the recommended adventures from past guests.
